I always wave at fans from team bus, feel 'blessed' to have them: Virat Kohli

Indore, Oct 13: India's Test captain and star batsman Virat Kohli has said he feels "blessed" and "grateful" that he has a huge fan following.

When India played the third and final Test of the series against New Zealand in Indore recently, Kohli was again the favourite among the crowd.

Indore made its Test debut and India won the match by a mammoth 321 runs on Tuesday (October 11) to complete a 3-0 whitewash. (Kohli 'sir' makes fans happy)

After the contest, Kohli was asked in the post-match press conference about the fan following he has and he revealed that it makes him happy to see them and wave at them from the team bus.

"I just feel grateful. I am just a human being like anyone else. Maybe people connect to me in a different way. I feel very blessed about. There is nothing that I need to feel over-confident or arrogant about," the 27-year-old said.

He continued, "If there is a connect I always try to wave at as many people from the team bus in the mornings. If that makes them happy or improves their mood in the morning, I am happy too. I wouldn't have imagined that I could influence people with such small things.

"I take it as a blessing not as pressure. I like it. If people genuinely appreciate or cheer for you, that helps you to boost your confidence. And I feel that some way or the other you can make them feel happy."

Kohli's legion of fans will follow him now to the One Day International series against New Zealand starting in Dharamsala on October 16 (Sunday). It is a five-match rubber.
