The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will have a new leader at the helm for the IPL 2025 season, with Rishabh Pant taking over the captaincy from KL Rahul.

The franchise made a historic move in the auction by securing the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman as the highest-paid player in IPL history, as they roped Pant for Rs 27 crore.

While Nicholas Pooran had previously captained LSG for a few matches in the past, the West Indies star will now play under Pant's leadership. Despite the change in command, Pooran remains confident in Pant's abilities and believes their on-field collaboration will be key to LSG's success. In an exclusive interview with MyKhel facilitated by Parimatch, the LSG star opened up on the current leader.

"Rishabh brings a fresh perspective and energy to the team. He's a special cricketer and a great leader. The squad fully supports him both on and off the field, and we're looking forward to the season ahead," Pooran said.

Emphasizing their strong relationship, the explosive West Indian batter confirmed that they share an open line of communication and will work together whenever necessary.

"I am an open book. Rishabh knows he can come to me anytime, and I can do the same with him. We have a strong relationship, and communication has never been an issue. He has my full support, and along with experienced players like Miller and the overseas contingent, we will work together to push LSG towards success," he added.

With a blend of youth and experience, LSG will be aiming to make a significant impact in the upcoming season, and the partnership between Pant and Pooran could prove to be crucial in shaping their campaign.

Pant has been a mainstay in IPL captaincy for the last few years and will be desperate to start on the right note at his new franchise.
