‘I Never Said That’: Suryakumar Yadav Shuts Down Viral Captaincy Claim
Suryakumar Yadav has dismissed a viral social media statement claiming he was unhappy over his omission from India's T20I squad and the decision to hand the captaincy to Shreyas Iyer, urging fans not to share unverified information.
The former India T20I captain issued the clarification ahead of India's must-win third T20I against England in Nottingham, putting an end to speculation surrounding his exclusion from the ongoing tour.

Suryakumar Yadav rejects viral statement on India captaincy
A statement circulating on social media alleged that Suryakumar felt disrespected by the selectors and the BCCI after being left out of the England tour and stripped of the T20I captaincy.
The 35-year-old categorically denied making those remarks.
"I've also noticed a statement being circulated online that has been falsely attributed to me. I want to make it clear that I have not made or authorised any such statement. Please don't believe or share unverified information."
He also reiterated his commitment to Indian cricket despite missing out on selection.
"My support for Indian cricket, my teammates, and the game will always speak louder than words falsely attributed to me."
Suryakumar backs Shreyas Iyer's India team
Rather than expressing disappointment, Suryakumar threw his support behind India's new-look T20 side as it continues its transition under Shreyas Iyer.
"I'm very happy for the team and wish them nothing but the very best, always."
He added:
"I know the boys are giving it their all, and they will always have my full support."
His comments come at a time when India are reshaping their T20 squad with an eye on the next World Cup cycle, introducing several younger players into the setup.
India continue transition after Suryakumar's omission
Suryakumar's absence remains one of the biggest selection talking points following India's successful T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year.
The experienced batter has scored 3,272 runs in 113 T20Is for India and captained the side before the selectors opted to move in a different direction with Shreyas Iyer leading a younger squad.
India currently trail England in the five-match T20I series and face a must-win encounter in Nottingham as they attempt to keep the series alive.
While Suryakumar has made it clear he remains fully behind the team, his statement also serves as a reminder for fans to verify information before sharing posts falsely attributed to players on social media.
