Chasing 349, India, at one stage were cruising towards the finish line. But the match turned on its head thanks to flurry of wickets after the 37th over. India, from 277/1, were bundled out for 323 in 49.2 overs. Paceman Kane Richardson took 5 wickets. Australia made it 4-0 in the 5-match series. The hosts set a record with 19-game unbeaten streak at home.

Centuries from Shikhar Dhawan (126) and Virat Kohli (106) went in vain. It was all going India's way when the Delhi duo had a double ton partnership. However, after they departed from the middle, the lower order succumbed to pressure.

Skipper Dhoni went back for a 3-ball duck when he had walked out to bat at number 4. Ajinkya Rahane had injured his hand while fielding and his entry was delayed as he had stitches to his right hand.

"I am not angry but disappointed. I take responsibility (for the defeat) because that is my job - to finish off the matches. The youngsters had a tough job," Dhoni said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

"We had a chance to win but did not close the game," added Dhoni.

The 5th and final ODI is in Sydney on Saturday (January 23).
