Shubman Gill has made a terrific mark in Test cricket in the Border Gavaskar Trophy after he came in as a replacement for KL Rahul in the Indian team.

KL Rahul, who has been enduring a torrid period with the bat, was dropped midway through the Border Gavaskar Trophy and Gill replaced him. And in the fourth Test, Gill justified his selection by scoring a brilliant hundred, his 2nd Test century.

KL Rahul just managed 38 runs in the first two Tests and now Gill's fantastic form has further jeopardized his chances in the longest format of the game. And amid this, Dinesh Karthik says he will definitely prefer Shubman Gill over KL Rahul in the WTC Final.

"I will see how Rahul feels because KL is not somebody who enjoys keeping in Test cricket because it is a completely different ball game. But I will definitely keep that in the back of my mind," Dinesh Karthik said after the 4th Test.

"I will definitely go with Shubman Gill, there's no doubt about it. The man has got a hundred in the last Test before the WTC final. You get the feeling that Shubman Gill is in for the long run. He is a long racehorse. He's the one that you want to put your money on and say, 'I want to see him in 2033 still there opening for India'," the 37-year-old added.

India won the Test series against Australia 2-1 and will now face the same opponent in the WTC Final which starts from June 7. It will be interesting to see how India approach for the match as in terms of wicketkeepers, only KL Rahul and KS Bharat are the options.

Bharat had a moderate series against Australia, but in the WTC final, it will be new conditions for him to deal with being the match will be played in England. On the contrary, KL Rahul's prior experience in those conditions can tempt the Indian thinktank to hand him another chance in the biggest stage of Test cricket.
