Ind-Eng series photos; Career-high for Kohli
When India toured England in 2014, Kohli failed with the bat, scoring just 134 runsin 10 innings without a single half century (highest score of 39).
Now, in 2016, the 28-year-old Kohli has been in great form across formats. In the ongoing Test series against England, he has amassed 640 runs in 7 innings. He is the leading run scorer in the 5-match rubber.
Ahead of the 5th and final Test, which starts in Chennai tomorrow (December 16), Kohli was asked whether he is open to playing county cricket in England in 2018, for which he said yes if he has time and gets an opportunity.
"If I have a chance I would love to do that (play county cricket). Love to be there for a month and month and half before getting used to playing in those conditions, understand what the wickets behave like, in a particular phase of the year. I think those things matter a lot," Kohli told reporters on Thursday.
"Preparation time is very crucial for any side. If I have the opportunity to go there a few days before the tour starts that will be great. Actually I have been thinking about it. Trying to work out how I can make that happen. Most definitely if I have time I would love to go and play," he added.
Several Indian players have benefitted from playing county cricket. Last year, Cheteshwar Pujara rediscovered his Test form after a stint with Yorkshire.
