Legendary England cricketer Ian Botham somehow escaped alive after a near-fatal encounter while fishing in Australia.
Ian Botham went for fishing in the Moyle River, located in North Australia, where he was accompanied by Australian cricket legend Merv Hughes.

Botham, who is famed for his cricketing achievements, faced an unexpected danger not on the cricket field but while engaging in a leisure activity. He apparently fell into the river which had dangerous reptiles, but somehow managed to get up to his boat without any harm.
The perilous moment was shared by Botham on his Instagram, where he recounted how Hughes was instrumental in his swift rescue from the water.
"I was out of the water quicker than I went in it. Quite a few sets of eyes were having a peep at me. Luckily I had no time to think about what was in the water. The guys were brilliant, it was just one of those accidents. It was all very quick, and I'm OK now," as per a report by The Mirror.
The mishap occurred when Botham struggled to get on board the boat and was entangled in ropes, leading to his fall into the river. Despite the immediate danger posed by the presence of crocodiles, Botham was fortunately pulled to safety before any harm.
Botham came out unscathed but had a few bruises in his torso, but the English legend must consider himself extremely lucky as crocodiles are often fatal when attacking and generally get their prey, especially in water. The Moyle River in Northern Australia is known for its rich abundance of various fish species, but also consists of some dangerous reptiles and other harmful fauna.
The English and Australian duo are set to commentate in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. The first Test is set to start on November 22 in Perth.
