Who are the nominees for ICC T20 Cricketer of the Year 2023? The International Cricket Council on Wednesday (December 3) announced its four nominations each for the men's and women's T20 cricketer of the year 2023.
Last year's winner Suryakumar Yadav was once again nominated for the season while Mark Chapman (New Zealand), Alpesh Ramjani (Uganda), Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe) were the other nominees.

Among women cricketers, the four nominations for the T20 cricketer of the year 2023 award were Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka), Sophie Ecclestone (England), Hayley Matthews (West Indies), Ellyse Perry (Australia).
Speaking of Suryakumar Yadav, the 33-year-old batter dominated 2023 in the shortest format with 733 runs from 17 innings at an average of 48.86 and a strike rate of 155.95.
After scoring just 7 runs in his opening innings against Sri Lanka to begin 2023, Suryakumar went on to have another outstanding year, scoring 51 runs (36 balls) and 112 runs (51 balls) in the next two games. With his inside-out drives and deft play behind the wicket, Suryakumar struck nine sixes and seven fours in his 112 off 51 balls, nearly hitting a boundary per three deliveries.
It took him just 45 balls to reach three figures, and he hit his maiden boundary off the fourth ball of his innings. India won by a decisive 91 runs, and the achievement was their second-fastest century in men's T20 cricket, following Rohit Sharma's 35-ball score against the same opponent in 2017.
Before showing his class with an innings of 83 (44 balls) against the West Indies in Providence, he continued to score consistently in the 20s and 40s. He hit 61 off 45 balls in Florida to close out the West Indies series.
Despite bearing the responsibility of captain, Suryakumar thrived and at the end of the year, he was leading a youthful Indian team. Before recording an even hundred against the Proteas off just 56 balls in their last Twenty20 of the year in Johannesburg, he struck half-centuries against Australia (80 off 42 balls) and South Africa (56 from 36 balls).
