ICC expresses dismay over Asif's inclusion
Dubai, May 16 (UNI) The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed dissatisfaction over Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) decision to include medium pacer Mohammad Asif in the 15-member squad for the upcoming Abu Dhabi series.
According to the Gulf-based 'Khaleej Times', although ICC has not given any written statement to PCB on this issue, but it had officially informed the Pakistan board, about its reservation over Asif's inclusion, as it follows zero-tolerance policy in drug related cases.
ICC's objection on Asif's inclusion came after some former cricket greats and officials have also voiced concern over his selection for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi citing that while his case was in arbitration, the pacer should not have been picked in the squad.
But the PCB had announced that the dope case against Asif and Shoaib Akhtar was already closed and the two speedsters were free to play if picked up in the team by the national selectors.
