ICC Men’s Player of the Month: Iyer shines in Champions Trophy triumph as Voll dazzles in New Zealand T20 sweep

ICC Men's Player of the Month: March 2025 belonged to two stars who lit up the cricketing skies in opposite hemispheres - one with calm authority under the desert lights of Dubai, and the other with fearless flair across the breezy shores of New Zealand.

The ICC Men's and Women's Player of the Month awards have landed in the deserving hands of India's Shreyas Iyer and Australia's Georgia Voll, two names that now echo across dressing rooms and fan forums alike.

ICC Men s Player of the Month Iyer shines in Champions Trophy triumph as Voll dazzles in New Zealand T20 sweep

While Iyer's steady hand steered India to a historic ICC Champions Trophy win, Voll announced her arrival with a bat blazing louder than any headline. Both award-winners brought more than just runs to the scorecard - they brought storylines that stirred national pride and global admiration.

In a sport where margins are tight and pressure is relentless, Iyer and Voll rose above the rest with their poise, power, and purpose. From last-over chases to breakneck half-centuries, March was a showcase of clutch moments and coming-of-age displays - and cricket fans were all the richer for it.

Iyer’s Second Crown – Champions Trophy Glory Ignites Recognition

The ever-elegant Shreyas Iyer, fresh from scripting some of the most decisive innings of India’s victorious ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, adds a second ICC Men’s Player of the Month award to his name. His string of match-winning knocks helped India lift the coveted trophy for the third time in history – a feat etched in the annals of cricketing glory.

Facing stiff competition from New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra, Iyer’s consistency and class with the bat tilted the balance in his favour. He tallied 172 runs across the final three games of the tournament at a brilliant average of 57.33 – a figure that reflects not just form, but resilience under pressure.

It began with a sublime 79 off 98 balls in India’s do-or-die group stage clash against the Black Caps, where he stood tall amidst the storm and carried India to a crucial win. Then, in a nervy semi-final against Australia, he stitched a vital 45-run stand with stalwart Virat Kohli, ensuring stability in the chase. But it was in the final under the Dubai lights that Iyer once again rose to the occasion. His composed 48 off 62 balls anchored the run-chase of 252 and led India to a thrilling title-clinching victory against New Zealand.

“I’m truly honored to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March. This recognition is incredibly special, especially in a month where we lifted the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy — a moment I will cherish forever.

Being able to contribute to India’s success on such a big stage is something every cricketer dreams of. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches, and support staff for their unwavering support and belief.

A heartfelt thank you to the fans as well — your energy and encouragement keep us going every step of the way.”

– Shreyas Iyer, ICC Men’s Player of the Month

With this accolade, Iyer continues India’s stronghold over the ICC Player of the Month awards, following in the footsteps of Shubman Gill, who took home the honour in February.

Voll’s Meteoric Rise – Summer Sensation Seals Maiden Honour

On the women’s front, it was the electric presence of Georgia Voll that captivated fans and experts alike. Just months into her international career, the 21-year-old Australian batter has carved her name into headlines with a scintillating performance in the T20I series against trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand.

Voll, who debuted in December, displayed a calm maturity and fearlessness that belied her age. Her standout moment came in the series opener in Auckland, where she blitzed her maiden T20I fifty in just 30 balls to help chase down 138. Her intent was clear, her execution crisp, and her arrival on the big stage was thunderous.

She followed up with 36 in Mount Maunganui, but the fireworks truly returned in Wellington. There, Voll crafted a commanding 75 off 57 balls, steering Australia to a clinical series sweep over the reigning T20 World Cup champions. Her performances saw her edge out seasoned compatriot Annabel Sutherland and the USA’s emerging all-rounder Chetnaa Prasad in the monthly honours.

“Winning this award is certainly a nice way to cap off what's been an incredible summer for myself and the team.

To go to New Zealand and claim that T20 series against the World Champions was the perfect way to end the season. It's been a whirlwind first summer in the Australian side and I'm excited for what next season holds.”

Recognition, Records & Rising Stars

The ICC Player of the Month awards continue to serve as a celebration of consistency, excellence, and emerging narratives in the global cricketing landscape. Selected by a blend of votes from global fans and a panel of cricket experts including former players, media personnel, and ICC Hall of Famers, these awards are quickly becoming a barometer of cricketing brilliance.

For India and Australia, these latest wins extend impressive streaks in the monthly honours. Iyer’s victory marks back-to-back awards for India’s men, while Voll becomes the fourth successive Australian woman to win the title – an astonishing reflection of the depth and dominance of both nations in world cricket.
