India vs New Zealand Final: The ICC Men's T20 World Cup trophy has a link to Jaipur, beyond the on-field action. Jaipur-based designer Amit Pabuwal said the International Cricket Council asked Pabuwal to craft the trophy.
Pabuwal said the first design idea was prepared by Australia's Minale Bryce. Pabuwal said the work was completed for the 2007 tournament.

Pabuwal said the design outline was drawn up in 2007, the inaugural year. After the outline was settled, the ICC handed Pabuwal the production work. "Once the design outline was finalised, the ICC assigned me the work of making the trophy. That is how the ICC T20 World Cup trophy was produced in 2007," Pabuwal told.
Pabuwal said the ICC first planned a titanium and glass mix for the trophy. Pabuwal said the aim was a look that matched T20 cricket’s speed. Several trial models were made to test the concept. The idea proved hard to build as the parts had to fit tightly. These early attempts did not deliver a stable final product.
Pabuwal said the glass sections kept breaking during assembly with the metal frame. The repeated failures made the plan difficult to carry out. "After several experiments, I advised that the combination would not work technically," Pabuwal said the ICC then moved away from the titanium and glass plan.
Pabuwal said the final trophy used silver with platinum plating. Pabuwal said this choice improved strength and made the trophy suitable for global use. The trophy stands about 21 inches tall and weighs around six kilograms, Pabuwal said. Pabuwal added that the original trophy stays at the ICC headquarters.
Pabuwal said the champions do not take the original trophy home. Instead, the winning team receives a matching replica, Pabuwal said. Pabuwal also linked the ICC approach to earlier work in cricket trophies. Pabuwal said Pabuwal had designed the worlds largest silver Friendship Cup trophy.
Pabuwal said the Friendship Cup trophy drew attention within cricket circles. Pabuwal said that visibility later helped bring the ICC assignment for the T20 World Cup trophy. Pabuwal said the trophy’s story began with a 2007 design outline by Australias Minale Bryce. Pabuwal said Jaipur then played a key role in crafting the final piece.
