Indian batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav has been named the captain of the ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year 2022, which was revealed by the International Cricket Council on Monday (January 22).
The International Cricket Council (ICC) opened the 2023 awards week by releasing the T20I teams of the year in both the men's and women's categories. Every year, ICC recognises 11 outstanding individuals who have impressed one and all - be it with the bat, the ball or their all-round exploits in a calendar year by naming the Team of the Year.

2023 saw plenty of T20I action despite the ODI World Cup and Asia Cup being the big tournaments held in the year. Suryakumar, who was named in the team of the year even in 2022, has retained his spot, which has been upgraded to a skipper in 2023.
The 33-year-old amassed 733 runs, including two centuries in 17 innings at a strike rate of 155.95 over the year in 2023 to land a spot in the ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year that also includes three other Indian players.
Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 430 runs including a century in 14 innings at a strike rate of 159.25, has been named as the opener of the side alongside England's Phil Salt.
Young spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who claimed 18 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 7.20, is the lone specialist spinner in the Team of the Year alongside spin-bowling all-rounders - Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza and Uganda's Alpesh Ramjani.
Pace spearhead Arshdeep Singh is the other player from India to find a place in the ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year after the left-arm quick claimed 26 wickets in 21 matches at an economy rate of 9.26.
Arshdeep is the third pacer in the line up alongside Ireland's Mark Adair and Zimbabwe's Richard Ngarava, completing the bowling attack in the team of the year 2023.
While West Indies' Nicholas Pooran takes over the gloves behind the stumps, New Zealand's Mark Chapman also found a place to complete the line up. Here is a look at the T20I Team of the year:
