ICC ODI Rankings: Australia repalce India as World No. 1 after winning series 2-1

ICC ODI Rankings: Australia took the World No. 1 crown from India as the vistiors defeated India by 21 runs in Chennai to clinch the series 2-1 after trailing 0-1 in the three-match series.

Australia claimed the World No. 1 spot in ICC ODI Men's Rankings after defeating India 2-1 in the three-match ODI series. Australia won the final and decisive ODI by 21 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.

The victory allowed Australia to eclipse India by a rating of less than 1 as the Steve Smith-led side's rating points rose to 113.286 while India's 112.638. Before the match, India were leading the rankings by 114 rating points while Australia was on 112.

Leg-spinner Adam Zampa starred in the win with a spell of 4/45 as Australia successfully defended a target of 269 despite a half-century from Virat Kohli. Mitchell Marsh earlier scored 47 and Alex Carey contributed a 38 as Australia were all out for 269 in 49 overs. Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets each. Mohammad Siraj and Axar Patel took two wickets as well.

New Zealand (third) and England (fourth) are not too far behind from the top two as the two 2019 World Cup finalists are on 111 rating points each. Pakistan is fifth with 105 rating points followed by South Africa at sixth spot with 101.

Bangladesh (95) are ahead of two former World Cup winners Sri Lanka (88) and West Indies (72) at seventh spot while Afghanistan complete the top 10 with 71 rating points.
