Shubman Gill Closes the Gap as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Also Make ICC Rankings Gains

India's top-order trio of Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have all climbed closer to the summit of the ICC Men's ODI Batting Rankings following impressive performances in the recently concluded series against England.

Despite India's 2-1 series defeat, Gill, Kohli and Rohit all gained rating points, while England's Joe Root returned to the top 10 after a prolific series with the bat.

Shubman Gill just one point behind Daryl Mitchell

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell has retained the No. 1 spot in the ODI batting rankings with 802 rating points.

However, Gill is now just one point behind after scoring 188 runs in the three-match series against England.

The India vice-captain remains second in the rankings and is within touching distance of becoming the world's top-ranked ODI batter.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also climb

Kohli and Rohit also strengthened their positions in the top four after productive outings against England.

Kohli followed up a quiet start to the series with scores of 65 and 74 in the final two ODIs, while Rohit also collected valuable runs to remain fourth in the rankings.

Joe Root returns to the top 10

England's Joe Root was the biggest mover among the leading batters after starring in his side's series victory.

Root amassed 249 runs across the three matches without being dismissed, lifting him four places to eighth in the latest rankings.

Other notable batting gains include:

• Ben Duckett: Up 11 places to joint 19th.
• Jacob Bethell: Up five places to 64th.
• Michael Bracewell: Up six places to 54th.
• Mark Chapman: Up 10 places to 62nd.

Rashid Khan remains world's No. 1 ODI bowler

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan continues to lead the ODI bowling rankings.

England fast bowler Jofra Archer climbed one place to third after taking five wickets against India and now trails only Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed.

Other bowlers making significant gains include:

• Gudakesh Motie: Up seven places to joint ninth.
• Alzarri Joseph: Up 10 places to 26th.
• Michael Bracewell: Up 14 places to 29th.
• Axar Patel: Up 10 places to joint 32nd.

Michael Bracewell reaches career-best among all-rounders

New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell also enjoyed a rise in the ODI all-rounder rankings.

The 35-year-old moved up two places to a career-high third, behind Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai and Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Bangladesh and Zimbabwe players rise in T20I rankings

The latest ICC rankings also reflected performances from the recently completed T20I series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
