In a recent announcement by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Player of the Month awards for March 2024 have been bestowed upon Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis and England's Maia Bouchier, recognizing their exceptional performances in the cricketing arena. The 25-year-old amassed 223 runs at an average of 55.75 from her five matches and helped England to win a 4-1 series win.
The duo won their award for the Month of March and gave their reactions after winning the accolades.

Kamindu Mendis has been awarded the ICC Men's Player of the Month for his remarkable batting achievements that led Sri Lanka to a notable victory in the first Test against Bangladesh. This match was part of the ICC World Test Championship showdown in Sylhet.
Despite a slow start in the T20I series, Mendis turned the tables with a spectacular show in the Test series. His first innings score of 102, his debut Test century, played a pivotal role in setting a competitive total for Sri Lanka. Not stopping there, Mendis topped his performance with a stunning 164 in the second innings, becoming the first player ever to score two centuries in a single Test while batting at number seven or lower.
On the women's side, England's Maia Bouchier claimed the ICC Women's Player of the Month award. Her consistent high scores were crucial in England's 4-1 T20I series win over New Zealand in March. Bouchier's batting prowess shone through, making her an integral part of the team's success on their tour.
The ICC Player of the Month awards are a testament to the exceptional talent and hard work of cricketers around the globe. For March 2024, Mendis and Bouchier have set high standards with their historic and match-winning performances, respectively.
"I am extremely happy to be named the ICC Men's Player of the Month, which I consider an inspiration for my international career. A recognition such as this motivates and makes us as players work more and more to deliver in the middle for the team, country, and fans," Kamindu Mendis said.
ICC Women's Player of the Month for March, Maia Bouchier, said, "First of all, thank you to everyone who voted for me. I am so happy and grateful to everyone: my family and partner and the staff and my teammates who have supported me whilst playing at the international level.
"I am so honoured to have won this award and I hope there are many more to come. It's been such an amazing couple of months, from training through the winter with my coaches at home and transferring what I've been working on into this series, so I am really glad I have been able to perform for the team," she added.
