ICC Rankings: Ashwin becomes No. 1 Test all-rounder; Career-best ranks for Rahane, Jadeja

Bengaluru, Dec 8: India's Ravichandran Ashwin today became the number one Test all-rounder in the latest ICC Rankings announced today. He has replaced Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan at the top.

There was also good news for other Indian players following their historic 3-0 Test series victory against South Africa at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla stadium yesterday (December 7). Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja have achieved career-best ranks.

Ashwin won the Man-of-the-series award against the Proteas for his 31 wickets and has now reduced the gap with South African pace spearhead in the bowlers rankings. Ashwin remains at 2nd spot after gaining 15 points but the difference is just 4 points with top-ranked Steyn.

Ashwin scored a half century in Delhi Test and his effort with the bat and outstanding form with the ball have taken him to number one in all-rounders list.

After scoring twin centuries in the 4th Test in Delhi, Rahane has jumped 14 places to 12th in the rankings for batsmen. He is the highest-ranked Indian among batters. Rahane joined an elite club of cricketers when he hit 127 and 100 not out in Delhi.

Left-arm spinner Jadeja, who took had an impressive series, is at his career-best 7th in bowlers rankings. Before the series he was at 30th position. India captain Virat Kohli has gained 2 places to be at 14th in rankings for batsmen.
