ICC Rankings Update: India Retain No.1 Spot, Crowned ODI Team of the Year
India remains at the top of the ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings after the latest annual update. They lead second-placed New Zealand by five points. The men in blue have 118 rating points while the Kiwis sit on 113 points. Meanwhile, Australia stays third with 109 points.
India has slipped by one rating point after the new update. The ICC now gives full weight to matches from May 2025. Games from the previous two years carry half weight. This system shapes current standings and affects future events.

On the other hand, the Proteas have 102 points in the latest table. They move past Pakistan, who are on 98 points. The Proteas climb into fourth place. Pakistan drops to fifth. This small change may matter for World Cup spots.
Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and England keep their spots in the top eight. Bangladesh stay ninth on 84 points. The West Indies are tenth with 74 points. The gap to Bangladesh is now 10 points, up from six earlier. Naturally, there is a rat race between the Windies, the Tigers, and the three lions for that last spot.
Minnows Climb The ICC Ladder
Ireland move into 11th place with 54 points. They edge past Zimbabwe, who have 53 points. The USA climbed to 13th position on 46 points. They move ahead of Scotland, who have 44 points in this rankings update.
UAE also records progress in the lower positions. They move into 19th place after passing Canada. UAE now holds 16 points in the table. These changes reflect recent results that gained partial or full weight.
Why Does The ICC Rankings Matter?
The standings matter for ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027. The top eight teams on 31 March 2027 will qualify directly. Hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe are already in. If South Africa stay in the top eight, ninth place becomes vital.
