India's premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah produced a magical spell to seal Team India's third T20I World Cup Victory in Ahmedabad. The right-arm pacer bowled four overs and was very economical, giving away just 15 runs while grabbing four crucial wickets. Bumrah's match-winning effort earned him the Player of the Match award.
His fiery performance came on the back of a dominating display by Team India with the bat in the first innings, posting a mammoth 255 runs for the loss of 5 wickets from 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan all got to half-centuries as India took the final towards a one-sided affair.

With the four wickets, Jasprit Bumrah went past former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga for grabbing the highest number of wickets in T20 World Cups.
Lasith Malinga, who captained Sri Lanka to the T20 World Cup title in 2014, played 31 matches in the tournament and took 38 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah has now edged past Malinga with 40 wickets in just 26 matches, thereby reaching the milestone in faster and fewer matches.
He is followed by Anrich Nortje (38 wickets) of South Africa, Tim Southee (36 wickets) and fellow Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh (36 wickets).
The overall tournament record, however, still belongs to Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh. The legendary spin-bowling all-rounder ended his T20 World Cup journey with 50 wickets in 43 matches. Only four bowlers in total have taken more wickets than Jasprit Bumrah in the tournament's history. The other three bowlers are: Adam Zampa (44 wickets), Adil Rashid (44 wickets), and Rashid Khan (43 wickets).
Jasprit Bumrah was in top form throughout the 2026 edition. He played eight matches and picked up 14 wickets, finishing as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. India's mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy matched that tally with 14 wickets of his own.
