ICC T20I Rankings: Chakravarthy remains at the top, Tilak Varma jumps two places to fourth

By MyKhel Staff

India's Tilak Varma and Varun Chakravarthy continued their upward momentum in the latest ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings, with the batter climbing into the top five while the spinner strengthened his grip at the summit of the bowling charts.

Tilak Varma surged two places to fourth among T20I batters after a consistent run against South Africa. The left-hander followed his 26 in the opening match at Cuttack with a fluent 62 in New Chandigarh and an unbeaten 26 in Dharamsala, allowing him to overtake Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan and England's Jos Buttler.

The list continues to be led by India's Abhishek Sharma, while Varma remains within touching distance of his career-best ranking of second, achieved earlier this year in January.

South African batters also made notable progress. Captain Aiden Markram jumped eight places to 29th after his fighting 61 in a low-scoring third T20I, while Quinton de Kock's match-winning 90 in the second game helped him climb 14 places to 53rd.

In the bowling rankings, Varun Chakravarthy further consolidated his position as the world's top-ranked T20I bowler. The mystery spinner claimed two wickets in each of the T20Is played during the week, adding 36 rating points to reach a career-best 818 points.

Fast bowlers from both teams also enjoyed gains. India's Arshdeep Singh, Player of the Match in Dharamsala for figures of two for 13, moved up four places to 16th. South Africa pacers Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi climbed to 25th and 44th respectively.

Meanwhile, in the ICC Men's Test Player Rankings, Devon Conway rose seven places to 34th among batters after scores of 60 and 28 in Wellington against the West Indies. Debutant Mitchell Hay entered the rankings at joint 78th, while Jacob Duffy's five-wicket haul in the second innings lifted him 15 places to a career-best 48th among Test bowlers.
