ICC Test Rankings: Joe Root on top of the world; Virat Kohli at 10th position

Nottingham (England), Aug 8: England's Joe Root has become the number one Test batsman in the world in the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday.

The right-handed Root climbed to the top of the table after England won the Ashes series 3-1 today, defeating Australia by an innings and 78 runs in the 4th Test. In England's only innings of the match, Root top-scored with 130.

South Africa's AB de Villiers has remained at second spot while Root swapped places with Australia's Steve Smith, who is now third. India's Test captain Virat Kohli has gained a position to be at 10th.
