ICC to approach Lorgat for ICC top job

By Staff

Dubai, Apr 2 (UNI) After Imtiaz Patel declined from taking up the ICC top post three days ago, the world body has scheduled a meeting for the job with South African Haroon Lorgat, the new favorite candidate, tomorrow.

ICC president-elect David Morgan will meet Lorgat in Cape Town.

''I have been asked to make myself available tomorrow for a possible meeting with a senior ICC representative,'' Lorgat was quoted as saying by Cricinfo.

''However, I am not in a position to discuss the nature and subject of the proposed discussion,'' he added.

Malcolm Speed, the current, CEO will step down in June.

The report said the ICC is keen on taking a final decision regarding the appointment of the new CEO in next 10 days and Lorgat had ''99 per cent chance''.

The general manager of the board and former South African wicketkeeper Dave Richardson is another candidate in the fray.
