Bengaluru, February 7: Anukul Roy was pillar in India's title triumph in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2018 bagging 14 wickets at a stunning average of 9.07.

The left-arm spinner from Jharkhand on Wednesday (February 7) credited former Indian skipper and his statemate MS Dhoni for his success in the ICC bash held in New Zealand. India defeated Australia by eight wickets to annex the crown for a fourth time.

"We have not spoken after the win. But he knows me well. Whenever we meet, he tells me to stay disciplined. 'You are bowling well. If you put more body into your deliveries, the chances of bowling short will also go down.' So, that advice helped me a lot and I am bowling less number of short balls. I feel confident," said Roy.

Now, Roy wants to do well for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and build on the success.

Roy was a doubtful starter ahead of the U19 World Cup due to an ankle injury but Rahul Dravid and other support staff backed him to the hilt as Roy gained in confidence.
