ICC Women's ODI Rankings: The Lankan lionesses have roared their way into the spotlight as the latest ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings update brought a host of positives for the Sri Lanka squad following their historic victory over India in the ongoing ODI Tri-Series.
The islanders scripted only their third-ever win against India in the 50-over format — their first since 2018 — chasing down 278 with just four balls to spare. Fuelled by dazzling batting displays and sharp bowling efforts, several Sri Lankan players found themselves climbing the international ladder in style.

Harshitha Samarawickrama was the architect of consistency for the hosts, smashing 77 against South Africa and a crucial 53 against India. Her back-to-back fifties saw her leap nine places in the ICC Batting Rankings to break into the top 20 for the very first time. She now proudly sits at 18th position with 583 rating points, her career-best to date.
If Samarawickrama was the glue, Nilakshika Silva was the spark. Her lightning-quick 33-ball 56 against India not only helped secure victory but also earned her a sensational 18-spot jump in the rankings. She now finds herself at a career-high 25th place with 546 points.
Kavisha Dilhari continues her steady rise — moving up three slots to 47th among batters and one spot to a joint 17th among all-rounders. Meanwhile, Hasini Perera made waves of her own, climbing eight places to a joint 64th position in the batting list. Captain Chamari Athapaththu also left her mark — her three-wicket haul against India pushed her 14 places up to 29th among bowlers, and one place to seventh among all-rounders. Veteran spinner Sugandika Kumari wasn’t left behind either — she rocketed 23 slots to a personal best 41st among bowlers.
The triumph over India wasn’t just any win. It was a statement. Sri Lanka successfully chased down 278/7, marking their second-highest successful run-chase in Women's ODIs. “It was a performance full of belief, character and composure,” noted a commentator during the match broadcast. “Sri Lanka have truly announced themselves.”
South Africa's Tazmin Brits dazzled with a ton against India (109 off 107) and leapt 12 places to 40th in the batting rankings. On the bowling front, Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululeko Mlaba made solid progress to 25th and 28th respectively. Mlaba also moved to a joint 44th among all-rounders.
India’s young guns Pratika Rawal and Richa Ghosh climbed to 42nd and 41st, while all-rounder Sneh Rana was rewarded for her bowling heroics (three-fors in all three matches) with a career-best 38th spot among bowlers.
Beyond the Tri-Series, Zimbabwe’s Modester Mupachikwa nudged up to 53rd in the batters' list, while teammate Beloved Biza stormed 40 slots to joint 84th. From the USA side, Disha Dhingra rose eight places to 58th, while Aditiba Chudasama now shares 49th spot among the all-rounders.
With their fiery form and newly-minted rankings, Sri Lanka’s women have not just turned heads — they've lit up the cricketing radar. And if this form holds, the rise might just be the beginning of something far bigger.
