ICC Women's T20 World Cup: The Netherlands women's cricket team has confirmed a 15-member Netherlands T20 World Cup squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 in England, marking the country's first appearance at this global event. Wicket-keeper batter Babetter de Leede will lead the side in the upcoming ICC tournament. Head coach Neil MacRae has stressed that, given the form of the team, the squad is poised to display a strong performance in the ICC tournament.

"The Netherlands has selected a World Cup Squad which blends youth and experience in a squad that has performed consistently well during ICC World Cup Qualifying Tournaments and the ICC Emerging Nations Tournament in the past twelve months. 'Super Excited!': Skipper De Leede Eyes Upcoming Challenge

Captain Babette de Leede underlined how significant this step is for Dutch cricket and the wider community, stressing both ambition and responsibility on the Netherlands T20 World Cup stage. Babette de Leede said, "We are super excited for our first-ever appearance in the ICC T20 World Cup. It will be a great opportunity to compete with the best teams in the world and to show the talent that we have in the Netherlands on the big stage. We hope to make the Dutch cricket community proud and to inspire young girls in the Netherlands. Because the T20 World Cup is played close to our home, in England, we expect a big orange crowd and a lot of support. It will be an experience of a lifetime, not just for us as a team, but also for our families, friends, and everyone who has Dutch women's cricket at heart."

The Netherlands T20 World Cup squad announcement also drew praise from the Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond, with KNCB Chief Executive Officer Huib van Walsem addressing players and supporters while recalling a famous men's result in England. Huib van Walsem said: "On behalf of the KNCB and the entire Dutch cricket community who will be following you closely, I would like to congratulate the Dutch Women's Cricket Team on qualifying for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. This outstanding achievement is a testament to your talent, discipline, and belief in one another.

You are not only representing the Netherlands on the world stage but also inspiring the next generation of female cricketers to dream big and compete fearlessly. We will be cheering you on every step of the way, and we encourage all supporters to join the Orange crowd in England during the tournament. No one has forgotten the famous upset created by the Dutch men in the opening match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup against England on 5 June 2009 at Lord's - I was there myself. You can create that same kind of surprise. Believe in it. Best of luck, and enjoy this adventure to the fullest. You have truly earned it."
