ICC World Cup 2023: The Australian men's cricket team has been ever-present in the ICC ODI World Cup since it's inception in 1975, winning the coveted title a record five times so far and will be attempting to land their sixth title in the upcoming show-piece tournament.

Team Australia led by Pat Cummins will battle nine other teams, including two time champions and hosts India, defending champions England and former winners Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the upcoming edition of the 50-over World Cup.

Australia's ODI World Cup History

In the 12 editions held so far, Australia has gone all the way to lift the title in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015, while they also went close in 1975 and 1996 when they finished runners up. The Australian team has also reached the semifinal and quarterfinal stage in two other editions.

Over the 12 editions, we have seen the top performers list being dominated by the likes of Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting, David Bood, Glenn McGrath and the Waugh brothers. In the most recent editions, Mitchell Starc, David Warner and Steve Smith have also contributed.
