ICC World Cup 2023: How can Virat Kohli and Team India handle the pressure? Sachin Tendulkar answers

Sachin Tendulkar has given team India his thoughts on how to deal with the humongous pressure as the World Cup 2023 is set to bring with it.

The ICC ODI World Cup is being hosted in India and the expectations from the Indian team is high. The last time it was played in India, the men in Blue lifted the trophy back in 2011. And there is similar expectation this time around as well from Rohit Sharma and co.

But Tendulkar has advised the players to indulge themselves into music. He reckons the pressure will be there, but music can keep the players away from the outside noise.

"The pressure of expectation will be there. I believe during this time, the earpods become your best friend. You can indugle yourself into good quality of music," Tendulkar said during commentary in the match between England and New Zealand.

He also recalls a moment from the 2011 World Cup where the team meeting channeled fuelled the pressure in a positive way. And Tendulkar has urged the team to use the expectation from the people more in a vibrant manner.

"It's important to just have the right mindset I remember in 2011 we actually had this point to discuss during the pre tournament preparation and we decided that billions of people were with us, not over our head," Tendulkar said.

Upon asked about his favourite cricket World Cup memory, Tendulkar recalled the special match against Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup. Tendulkar scored 98 runs in that match and India also won agains the arch-rivals.

"I will say the Pakistan match in 2003 in Centurion. It was possibly the most hyped up game that I remember. My friends had started telling me a year before that we will have to win that game, whatever happens in the World Cup doesn't matter. I remember supporters from both sides cheering. It was a surreal moment and a special feeling," Tendulkar further added.
