ICC World Cup 2023: How Hotel chain OYO gearing up for mega event? Know here

The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is set to start within three months. October 5 will commence the mega tournament in India as we are set to witness 10 teams fight out for ultimate glory.

The biggest event of cricket is coming to India after 12 years. The excitement is sky-high and with a new model of ICC fixtures, there will be at least nine India matches in the World Cup, which can rise to 11 if India reach the final.

World Cup 2023

Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Dharamshala, Lucknow and Pune will host India matches in the group stages. Ahmedabad will also host the all-important India vs Pakistan clash on October 15.

We have already seen a rise in hotel prices in Ahmedabad, where the tariff for the designated dates have four folded at some properties.

And amid this, global hospitality unit OYO, which have hotel chains across the majority of Indian cities, has announced that it will add up to 500 hotels across several host cities ahead of the World Cup.

OYO is set to integrate the number of hotels over the next three months to keep up with the rise in demand for tickets and accommodation ahead of the global event.

"Travel demand automatically goes up whenever the dates for a marquee cricket tournament are announced-such is the magic and power of this sport that binds millions together. We want to ensure that everyone who is travelling from far away to watch their favourite teams has access to a comfortable and affordable accommodation," an OYO spokesperson was quoted as saying by Business Standard.

The World Cup in India is set to see 10 teams fighting for glory this year. India, Pakistan, England, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, South Africa were the automatically qualified teams, while Sri Lanka and the Netherlands have joined them after qualifying through the qualifiers.
