An Indian lawyer has claimed that terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen gave him death threats over the phone for filing a complaint against Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan. The lawyer, named Vineet Jindal took to Twitter asking for prompt action from the security agencies.
"Adv. @vineetJindal19 Received life threat from Islamic terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen on Phone for filing complaint against Pakistani cricket player Mod.Rizwan offering Namaz in Cricket Ground. Complaint filed with Delhi Police. Request @cp_delhi @CellDelhi @DCP_NorthWest to take action," Jindal tweeted.

The lawyer earlier wrote a letter addressed to the ICC chairman Greg Barclay, said Mohammad Rizwan offering prayer in the middle of the pitch after scoring a century was an 'intentional depiction of his religion' and claimed it to be against the spirit of the game.
"Keeping the spirit of sports alive, Advocate Vineet Jindal filed complaint against Mohammed Rizwan, Wicket keeper and batsman of the Pakistan Cricket team for offering 'namaz' during Cricket match on 6th Oct'2023 with International Cricket Council. Copy of the complaint also sent to ICC Ethics Committee,BCCI and PCB (sic)," Jindal posted on October 14.
Mohammad Rizwan earlier dedicated Pakistan's win over Sri Lanka in a record chase to 'brothers and sisters in Gaza' following the recent developments in Israel and Palestine. It was in the same game, Rizwan shot a winning century and offered a prayer on the pitch, a celebration that Muslim cricketers often perform on the ground.
He was later criticised by former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria for the tweet while a section of Indian fans were not happy as well. The cricketer, however, was later cleared on the incident by ICC, who spoke to the Pakistan team management and were satisfied with the reason presented by the team.
Pakistan will play their next match on October 20 (Friday) as they will be up against Australia at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
