AFG vs PAK, World Cup 2023: 'Ye Pakistan team hi bakwas hai!' Pak fans vent frustration after embarrassing loss to Afghanistan

By MyKhel Staff

Pakistan cricket team slumped to their third consecutive loss at the ICC World Cup 2023 with their latest defeat against lower-ranked Afghanistan by eight wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday (October 23). Following the embarrassment, Pak fans were spotted venting their anger on X, formerly Twitter.

The match saw the famed Pakistan bowling setup fell to pick wickets against a determined Afghanistan top-order, which saw three of their batters score half-centuries (Ibrahim Zadran 87, Rahmat Shah 77*, Rahmanullah Gurbaz 65). None of the Pakistan spinners, on the other hand, took a wicket on the day. We take a look at some of the tweets by Pakistan fans.

Earlier, Pakistan scored 282 for 7 in their (CC World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan after opting to bat first. Captain Babar Azam top-scored with 74 off 92 deliveries while opener Abdullah Shafique contributed 58. Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed made 40 each down the order to take the score past 280. Noor Ahmad was the most successful Afghan bowler with figures of 3/49 while Naveen-ul-Haq chipped in with 2/52.

After Pakistan crashed to its second straight loss in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, an 8-wicket thrashing at the hands of bitter neighbours Afghanistan, skipper Babar Azam lamented the underwhelming effort in the field saying that his bowling attack was not up to the mark.

After the mauling against India, Pakistan's bowlers had another forgettable outing, failing to put any pressure on the Afghan batters despite defending an above-par total of 283 on a sluggish and challenging Chennai surface.

Pakistan's unhappy knack of slipping on banana skins resurfaced yet again as it turned out to be a red-letter day for the Afghanistan side as they caused a massive upset by trouncing Men in Green by 8 wickets in Chennai.

This is the second time the Afghanistan team caused a massive upset in the ongoing marquee event as the men of the warrior country defeated the defending champions England by 69 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
