ICC World Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma has got the midas touch this time

It's actually too good to be true. Is it a hype? Seeing India's first three matches in this ICC World Cup 2023 has left a lot of cricket fans baffled. The stunning performance of Rohit Sharma and his men has changed things quite quickly.

The optimism of the fans has reached such heights that now they feel that the ICC World Cup 2023 is going to stay home. India started it all in 2011 and followed it up by the host nations like Australia and England winning it in 2015 and 2019 respectively. At this hour, the India team is all set to conquer all. And why not?

For starters, the captain is playing like a man possessed and is looking good to win the Cup. And, he won't stop till he achieves his mission. Secondly, his batting form is saying it all -- he just keeps hitting the ball to the boundary. Everything he does on the field is turning out to be a golden move. Be it making bowling changes, field placings, shuffling the batting order or changing the XI, Rohit Sharma can't put a foot wrong.

So much so that even his teammates are responding to him brilliantly. The camaraderie is so good in the team that a player like Ishan Kishan is giving updates on Shubman Gill who replaced him in the very next match of the World Cup against Pakistan.

Even Virat Kohli wasn't that lucky at all. During his time, it was about top-three batting -- Rohit, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat himself -- and the 2019 World Cup middle-order was not even a patch of what it is today. In fact, one of the key members of the 2019 team admitted once: "We didn't give that importance to the No.4 slot as we should have."

But this year, the Indian team's middle order is so good that even a bowler like Yuzvendra Chahal wasn't selected because he can't bat at No. 8 and win India matches with his batting.

India's supremacy can also be gauged beyond batting as well when one checks out the bowling department led by Jasprit Bumrah. The pace attack is so good that even Mohammed Shami can't get into the XI.

With Hardik Pandya adding so much balance to this team by becoming the sixth bowler and No. 6 batsman, there is practically no need for any extra fast bowler as Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah are doing the job.

Even the spin department is the best in the business. That is because a proven bowler like R Ashwin isn't an automatic choice in the XI along with Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. As former fielding coach of the team R Sridhar says: "We are going to do well in the league matches but the main deal would be to win the last two games." Truly. All's well that ends well!
