The ICC World Cup 2023 is just a month and half away. The 50-over spectacle is set to take centre stage in India after twelve years and there are high hopes for the home team to replicate their 2011 success on home soil.
The permutations and combinations for the Indian squad are ongoing and it is coming to a point where the final 15 members for the World Cup may well be screened out soon. The selectors have already hinted their plans with their Asia Cup squad and it can be more of the same in the upcoming global tournament as well.

Barring major injuries or unforeseen events, we can expect the majority of the Asia Cup squad to be included in the World Cup team. And amidst the plethora of selection combinations, former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has picked his squad for the World Cup.
Ganguly, who led India to the Final of World Cup 2003, chose his fifteen-member squad in a Star Sports interview. The programme named #MyWorldCup15 saw the former India skipper pick his squad, and also named three backup players for any emergency purpose.
Ganguly has gone on with Rohit Sharma as captain and Hardik Pandya as vice-captain. Along with that, Ganguly has picked Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul to be his two wicketkeepers.
The 51-year-old has also kept Shreyas Iyer in his squad, who is making a return to the Indian team in the Asia Cup. Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill are the other batters while Virat Kohli is a certainty.
In the all-rounder section, Dada has chosen Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel while he has gone with Kuldeep Yadav as the solitary frontline spinner. In the pace department, he has gone with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur.
Apart from this, Ganguly has also named three backups to cover any potential injured players. He has gone with Prasidh Krishna as pace backup, while chose Yuzvendra Chahal as a spin backup. The former India captain also shows faith in Tilak Varma by picking him as a batting backup, while the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson haven't made it to his squad.
