ICC World Cup 2023: The Sri Lanka men's cricket team, which has been ever-present in the ICC ODI World Cup since it's inception in 1975, has won the coveted title once so far, and will look to repeat that feat in the upcoming show-piece tournament.
Dasun Shanak-led Sri Lanka will battle nine other teams, including the four other champions England, Australia, India and Pakistan in the upcoming edition of the 50-over World Cup.

In the 12 editions held so far, Sri Lanka has gone all the way to lift the title only once in 1996, while they also went close in 2007 and 2011 editions when they finished runners up. The Sri Lanka team has also reached the quarterfinal or semifinal stage in two other editions.
Over the 12 editions, several big name players and rising stars have stepped up for Sri Lanka like Sanath Jayasuriya, Mutiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Lasith Malinga and Angelo Mathews among others.
