ICC World Cup 2027 Schedule: Full List of Matches, Super 7, Format, Key Fixtures, Venues - All You Need To Know

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the complete schedule for the 2027 Men's Cricket World Cup, with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia set to host the tournament.

The 14-team competition will begin with the Super Series on October 2, 2027, while the main Group Stage gets underway on October 7. India will open their campaign against defending champions Australia in Cape Town before facing arch-rivals Pakistan in Johannesburg three days later.

ICC World Cup 2027 Schedule Full List of Matches Super 7 Format Key Fixtures Venues

The tournament will culminate with the World Cup final in Johannesburg on November 21, 2027, with November 22 kept as the reserve day.

India vs Australia to headline World Cup opener

The first major fixture of the Group Stage will see India take on Australia in Cape Town on October 7. The match will be a repeat of the 2023 World Cup final, when Australia defeated India in the title decider.

India's second match will bring another blockbuster encounter as they face Pakistan in Johannesburg on October 10.

India will then play Afghanistan, a qualifier and Zimbabwe before the Group Stage concludes. Their final group match is scheduled for October 24 against Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls.

How the 2027 World Cup format works

The 14 participating teams will initially be divided into two groups of seven, although the ICC release describes the 12 teams remaining after the qualifying process as being split into two groups of six, with the qualifying pathway determining the final composition.

The top three teams from each group will progress to the Super 7 stage. The seventh position will go to the fourth-placed team with the better record between the two groups.

The Super 7 phase will run from October 25 to November 14. Unlike some tournament formats, teams will start this phase without carrying forward points from the Group Stage. Each team will play six matches.

The ICC has pre-seeded teams into specific Super 7 positions to provide greater clarity around potential fixtures and venues.

The seedings are:

A1 - India
A2 - Australia
A3 - Pakistan
AB4 - England
B1 - New Zealand
B2 - South Africa
B3 - Sri Lanka

If a team that was not originally seeded qualifies for the Super 7 stage while a pre-seeded team fails to qualify, it will take over that team's allocated position.

This means several high-profile fixtures have already been mapped out, including potential clashes involving India, Australia, Pakistan, England and South Africa.

India-Pakistan clash among key fixtures

The India vs Pakistan encounter is scheduled for October 10 in Johannesburg and will be one of the biggest attractions of the Group Stage.

India's other notable fixtures include their opener against Australia on October 7, a match against Afghanistan on October 14 and a clash with Zimbabwe on October 24.

The Group Stage will also feature major fixtures such as Australia vs Pakistan on October 22 and England vs New Zealand on October 23.

Super 7 stage and knockout qualification

The Super 7 phase will feature seven teams competing in a single round-robin format, with each side playing six matches.

The top four teams at the end of the Super 7 standings will qualify for the semi-finals. The team finishing first will meet the fourth-placed side, while the second-placed team will face the third-placed team.

The first semi-final will be played in Cape Town on November 17, while the second semi-final will take place in Tshwane on November 18. Both matches will have reserve days.

World Cup 2027 Final

The 2027 Cricket World Cup final will be played at Johannesburg on November 21, with November 22 serving as the reserve day.

The tournament will therefore run for nearly seven weeks, beginning with the Super Series on October 2 and ending with the title clash on November 21.

World Cup 2027 venues

A total of 12 venues will host matches across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek will stage the three Super Series matches as well as three Group Stage fixtures. Zimbabwe will host matches in Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, while South Africa will have venues across Cape Town, Paarl, Johannesburg, Tshwane, Bloemfontein, Durban, KuGompo City and Gqeberha.
