ICC World Cup Final 2023: How Many Boundaries India Hit Against Australia?

By MyKhel Staff

India's flawless run at the ICC World Cup 2023 was handed its first jolt at the last leg as the star-studded batting order could only put 240 runs on the board in 50 overs while losing nine wickets against a disciplined Australian bowling effort at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Put into bat first, Rohit Sharma provided the attacking start he has been known for with a brisk 31-ball 47 that saw India go past 50 in no time. However, the captain lost his wicket at a crucial juncture while inform batters Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer (4 runs each) came a cropper.

Then ensued a dry spell of almost no boundaries as Virat Kohli (54 runs off 63 balls) and KL Rahul (66 of 107) cautiously rebuilt India's innings before another tight bowling show by the Aussies saw India fall short on a par total. We take a look at the number of boundaries India managed on the day while breaking down the performances of each of the batters.

Batter Fours Sixes
Rohit Sharma (47) 4 4
Shubman Gill (4) 0 0
Virat Kohli (54) 4 0
Shreyas Iyer (4) 1 0
KL Rahul (66) 1 0
Suryakumar Yadav (18) 1 0
Ravindra Jadeja (9) 0 0
Mohammed Shami (6) 1 0
Jasprit Bumrah (1) 0 0
Kuldeep Yadav (10) 0 0
Mohammed Siraj (9) 1 0
Total 13 3

KL Rahul's performance, in particular, left the fans divided as some praised the middle-order batter for holding on to one of the ends while others criticised him for not accelerating his innings after spending enough time on the crease. He managed just a boundary during his 107-ball stay on the crease.

Rohit Sharma was the best performer boundary-wise as the skipper shot the new ball for four sixes and as many fours with runs flowing at a good strike rate during his stay on the crease.

Virat Kohli shot four boundaries during his stay and scored runs at considerably good strike rate in the middle overs but lost his wicket at a crucial stage in the game with Australian bowling and fielding efforts on the day bamboozled the hosts, who came into the game on a 10-match unbeaten run in the ICC World Cup 2023.
