India, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand have confirmed their spots in the semi-finals of ICC World Cup 2023, as three of the four teams equalled or bettered the record in the process.
India, who became the first team to seal the last four spot in World Cup 2023, had equalled Australia and New Zealand's record for most semi-final appearances in the ODI World Cup history, having reached the stage for the eighth time.

Australia, however, broke the record again by reaching their ninth World Cup semifinal. New Zealand also levelled the record a few days later as they beat Pakistan and Afghanistan to fourth Semi-Final World Cup 2023 spot.
New Zealand are also the only team to have reached the last four stage and never managed to win the title alongside South Africa, who have reached the World Cup semi-final five times so far. Here is a look at ICC World Cup semi-final record:
Australia have crossed the semi-final barrier the most, having reached the final 8 times, meaning they have ended victorious in eight semifinal appearances followed by India and England, who have won four semifinals. West Indies and Sri Lanka have won the semi-final three times each.
Pakistan and New Zealand have won the last four clashes twice in their World Cup history, while South Africa and Kenya have never managed to cross the stage to reach a World Cup final so far.
Among the 19 teams that have competed in the 13 editions of the ODI World Cup, only eight teams have managed to reach the semi-final in the show-piece tournament, while Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland have reached the quarterfinal, super six or super eight stage.
