ICC World Test Championship Points Table: The Indian cricket team made a strong statement on Thursday (December 04), when they defeated hosts South Africa by seven wickets inside two days in the second Test in Newlands, Cape Town.
With the massive win, India improved their position on the ICC World Test Championship Points Table, taking their points tally to 26 with 12 points earned from the win. Mykhel takes a look at how the points earned affected their position on the points table.

Following the conclusion of their tour in South Africa, India secures the top spot with 54.16 PCT points. India's next assignment at home is a five-match series against England. South Africa have dropped to second place in the WTC points table after one win and one loss.
Proteas are ranked second now on the table with 50 PCT points as they have 12 overall points from 24 contests. With two Test matches played, New Zealand have also dropped a spot and now has 50 PCT points. In the standings, they are now third. Australia are ranked fourth in the table with 50 PCT and 42 total points.
Bangladesh, with 50 PCT points, are ranked fifth in the rankings. Last month, Bangladesh defeated New Zealand in a Test match. With 45.83 PCT points, Pakistan are now ranked sixth. Australia and Pakistan are presently engaged in their third and final test match of the series in Sydney.
Sri Lanka have not yet opened their account in the rankings, while the West Indies is ranked seventh with 16.67 PCT points, followed by England in eighth place with 15 PCT points in the ICC World Test Championship Points Table.
On Day 2 of India vs South Africa 2nd Test, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah achieved fantastic figures of 6/61 to help India achieve their aim of 79 by bowling out South Africa for 176. Before lunch, Aiden Markram had hit a brilliant counterattacking 106 from 103 balls. In the second session, the hosts' skipper Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer finished the chase with scores of 17 and 4, respectively, without conceding a wicket.
