Iceland Cricket slammed by fans for tweet on star India batter Virat Kohli's hundred drought in Test cricket that has lasted for over three years now.
Kohli ended his overall hundred drought in 2022 when he scored his maiden T20I century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup. He also scored three hundreds in ODIs to take his overall hundreds tally to 74.
However, the 34-year-old, who scored his last Test hundred in 2019, is yet to reach the three-figure mark in the red ball format. It has been 22 Tests since Kohli registered a hundred in Tests.
During his drought, he has scored four fifties with his highest score being 79, which came against South Africa in January 2022. In the seven Tests since then, Kohli has scored 232 runs.
Kohli has also failed to make an impact in the ongoing Test series against Australia with the scores of 12, 44 and 20 so far in the first two Tests.
Iceland Cricket, who are at most times provocative with their tweets, took to Twitter to highlight the fact that Kohli has not scored a Test century for over three years.
"This statistic won't please many of our Indian fans, but it is now 23 Tests since Virat Kohli scored a century, which was back in 2019. How long is too long?," Iceland Cricket tweeted.
But that did not go down well with the fans as some defended the star Indian batter, who has had a lean patch in the red ball game.
While one fan questioned the poor umpiring, one fans also asked Iceland if any of their players have ever scored a Test hundred and the others just asked them to "leave Kohli alone".
Some fans also compared them to Venkatesh Prasad for his recent outburst for KL Rahul's inclusion despite poor form by suporting his calls with stats.
