ICL announces prize money corpus of Rs 13.72 crores

Hyderabad, Oct 9 (UNI) The Indian Cricket League today announced a prize money corpus of Rs 13.72 crore for its second edition of the 'ICL 20s Indian Championship' Starting tomorrow.

The winners stand to gain Rs 2 crore and the runners-up will be richer by Rs 1 crore while the loosing semi-finalists will stand to win Rs 50 lakh lakh, ICL said in a statement.

That's not all, for there are prizes to be won in the preliminary stage as well. While every team winning a match in the league phase stands to gain Rs 25 lakhs and the man of the match will be richer by Rs 2 lakhs whereas the Man of the Series will get a humongous Rs40 Lakh.

Announcing the prize money, ICL Executive Board Member, Kiran More said, ''Monetary considerations are important for any professional cricketer and we are pleased to announce a prize money package right up there on par with international cricket.

I am sure this will work as a major incentive for all our players and motivate them to give cent percent to their team and the viewing public every time they take the field.'' The ICL 20s Indian Championship in Season 2 will see a total of 41 pulsating matches being played at four stadiums- Hyderabad, Panchkula, Gurgaon and Ahmedabad.
