'If India-Pakistan happens in Moon...': Saeed Ajmal's bold statement on India vs Pakistan Bilateral Series

By MyKhel Staff

Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal has urged for the resumption of bilateral cricket matches between India and Pakistan, emphasizing the strong connection between the two nations.

Ajmal, who took 178 wickets in 35 Test matches, highlighted the importance of the rivalry. He expressed his hope that the two countries could visit each other again, noting that "there is a lot of love" between them.

Saeed Ajmal s bold statement on India vs Pakistan Bilateral Series

"Even if the India-Pakistan match happens on the moon, it will be huge. There is a lot of love between India and Pakistan and we must go to each other's countries," Ajmal said.

Due to strained political relations, India and Pakistan have not faced each other in a bilateral series for years, only meeting in ICC tournaments. India has not toured Pakistan in recent years, and Pakistan last visited India for the 2023 ICC World Cup.

Ajmal made these remarks at the launch of the GloFans High School Cricket Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Sharjah and Ajman in November. He also spoke about the importance of Test cricket, stating that those who excel in the longest format can easily transition to other formats. With 184 ODI wickets to his name, Ajmal believes that Test cricket needs more promotion to ensure its survival in the modern era.

In addition to his views on cricket diplomacy, Ajmal praised prominent players like Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Babar Azam, and Rohit Sharma, calling them exceptional talents. He also applauded Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who played a crucial role in India's 2024 T20 World Cup victory, describing him as an "intelligent bowler" who blends speed with smart bowling strategies.

"I like Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Babar Azam, and Rohit Sharma, they are good players. Bumrah is very intelligent bowler and intelligence is required with speed," concluded Ajmal.

Although the Pakistan stalwart wants more bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan, the chances of that are currently slim. Pakistan is set to host the ICC Champions Trophy next year and it is still unclear whether India will travel for the tournament.
