Lahore, Aug.28 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt has denied sacking captain Younis Khan due to the disastrous Sri Lanka tour, saying he has full confidence in the leadership qualities of the captain.
"These rumours about the board having lost confidence in Younis's captaincy is rubbish," The Daily Times quoted Butt, as saying.
On Thursday, Butt said the PCB would appoint Younis Khan as captain of the national team for a long period if Pakistan performed well during the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled to be held in South Africa in September.
It may be recalled that Khan, recently, expressed his anger over certain quarters of the PCB which, according to him, is trying to strip him of captaincy and malign his image.
"I have never run after the captaincy. But I will unmask these people who are trying to create differences between me and the other players to create discord in the team," he had said. (ANI)
