MI Emirates vs Dubai Capitals Preview
Reigning champions MI Emirates (MIE) are set to face off against Dubai Capitals (DC) once again in the ongoing ILT20 season. The match will take place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday, January 13. MI Emirates had a disappointing start to their title defense, narrowly losing their opening game to the Capitals by a single run in Dubai on Saturday.
In that encounter, Dubai Capitals managed to post a modest total of 133/8 in 20 overs, thanks to Brandon McMullen's composed knock of 58 off 42 deliveries. MI Emirates appeared to be in a favorable position to chase down the target but stumbled early in their innings. A disastrous start saw them lose four wickets for just 23 runs within the first five overs, putting them on the back foot.
Captain Nicholas Pooran staged a remarkable fightback, smashing 61 off 40 balls. He forged a crucial 79-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Akeal Hosein, giving the Emirates a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately, both batters were dismissed in quick succession, and the lower-order was unable to close out the game, leaving MI Emirates heartbroken in their season opener.
