India's World Cup 2023 campaign was mostly filled with moments to cherish until the heartbreaking defeat in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, November 19.
India lost the World Cup 2023 final by six wickets but the journey would be remembered for the dominance they showed to win 10 of their eleven matches.
It would be remembered for a captain who was truly 'selfless' in his act but left teary eyed on the night of final, it would be remembered for a batting maestro who broke 'Cricket God's' record, and it would be remembered for a batter who missed out on his hundred because of a 'sweetly' timed six. A look at Team India's top World Cup 2023 moments through pictures.
Rohit Sharma crying: India's 'selfless' captain Rohit Sharma tried hard to control his tears after losing the World Cup 2023 final against Australia by six wickets. However, his facial expression gave everything away. He had to rush back to the dressing room towards the end to hide the tears from flowing out.

KL Rahul missing hundred due to a six: India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul would have become India's first centurion at the World Cup 2023, but a sweetly timed six over extra cover denied the opportunity.
KL Rahul was batting on 91 when India needed just five runs to win the match against Australia at the Chepauk in Chennai. He planned to hit a four and then a six to complete his hundred, but the 'extra good timing' on the second ball of the 42nd over from Pat Cummins, saw the ball sailing over extra cover.

Virat Kohli's 50th hundred: The batting maestro broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for most ODI hundreds in front of him at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against New Zealand in the World Cup 2023 semi-final. After completing his 50th ODI hundred, he leaped in the air, before taking off his helmet and bowing in the direction of Tendulkar.

Hardik Pandya injury: Hardik Pandya ended up twisting his ankle on his bowling follow-through while trying to stop a shot from Bangladesh's Liton Das. He had to be taken off the field immediately. Later, he was ruled out of the World Cup 2023. His services were missed badly in the mega final.

'Maverick' Mohammed Shami: Coming in the playing eleven after Hardik's injury, Shami straightaway picked five wickets in the match against New Zealand who were all over India with 178 runs on the board for the loss of just two wickets in 33.2 overs. They were soon bundled out for 273. Shami picked two more five-fers in the tournament and finished as the leading wicket-taker after playing just seven matches.

Virat Kohli-Marnus Labuschagne face off: Australia were three down for 47 when Marnus Labuschagne walked in the middle and was welcomed by some chirps from Virat Kohli. The two also stared at each other for a good 14 seconds. However, it was more of a playful banter than hardcore sledging.
