Pune, Mar 29: While India and Indians await the much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan tomorrow at Mohali, working professionals across the country are making excuses to slip out of office to watch the action in the comfort of their homes. But there are others less fortunate like those in the medical profession whose work commitments can decide on a person's life or death.
Doctors across India were racking their brains on what reason to give the patients when they come knocking on their doors. But as if their prayers were answered most patients have postponed their appointments. Patients have moved their doctors appointments since their husbands will be apparently “busy" tomorrow. No prizes for guessing that this phenomenon can be attributed to the world cup match.
An infertility expert, Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar has been quoted as saying to a newspaper, that there have been many postponements for tomorrow. It's not just doctors appointments but also dates for critical operations that have been shifted citing the match tomorrow.
“A patient from Ratnagiri was supposed to undergo a spinal tumor surgery which he has now put off by a day," a doctor commented.
