IND vs AFG 1st ODI Weather Update: Will Rain Play Spoilsport at Dharamshala?
India are set to lock horns against Afghanistan in an ODI series, after the one-off Test which India won with ease. The three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan begins on June 13, 2026, at the scenic HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.
This day-night encounter (start time: 1:30 PM IST) is the first of India’s key preparatory series for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Shubman Gill’s side will be looking to continue their dominance after thrashing Afghanistan in the recent one-off Test, while Hashmatullah Shahidi’s men will aim to upset the hosts with their spin-heavy attack.

India are without Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya due to injuries, giving opportunities to returning players like Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Afghanistan will lean heavily on Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s firepower and the magic of Rashid Khan. The HPCA pitch usually offers good batting conditions with assistance for both pacers early and spinners in the middle overs.
Dharamshala Weather Forecast for June 13
- Temperature: Daytime highs 24-28°C, dropping to 16-19°C in the evening.
- Rain Probability: 70-90% chance of isolated thunderstorms or moderate showers, especially post-afternoon.
- Precipitation: Possible 2.3-6 mm rainfall.
- Conditions: Partly to mostly cloudy with high humidity (60-80%).
Will Rain Play Spoilsport?
Rain is a serious concern as June marks the onset of the monsoon in Himachal Pradesh. Dharamshala has witnessed weather interruptions in past limited-overs matches. However, the ground boasts excellent drainage, and the BCCI can use the DLS method or a reserve day if necessary.
On Saturday, as per Accuweather, there is a significant chance of rain as well. There is around 90 per cent prediction of rain in Dharamshala and the rain prediction increases after 2 PM on the day. Hence we can expect a rain-marred affair only, and the overs may well be curtailed.
While short, intense showers are common in the region, a full 50-over contest remains possible if the rain stays intermittent. Fans should be prepared for possible delays or a shortened game.
