India have posted the highest powerplay score for them in T20Is in the ongoing match against Afghanistan today (September 17) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma have made a staggering start, the latter especially, as India put on 100 runs in the powerplay.

India made a sensational start, racing to 100/0 in just six overs, powered by an explosive opening partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson.
Abhishek has been the standout performer, smashing an unbeaten 76 off just 22 balls, including eight fours and seven sixes, at a staggering strike rate of 345.45. Samson provided excellent support, scoring 24 off 14 deliveries with three sixes.
India create T20I Powerplay Record
The duo have maintained a relentless attacking approach from the outset, putting the opposition bowlers under immense pressure. Abhishek's extraordinary ball-striking, in particular, ensured India reached the landmark in spectacular fashion.
Together, they have hit 10 sixes and 8 boundaries, thus propelling India's score to the three-figure mark. This is the highest powerplay score for India in a T20I match, further adding to the spectacle of their breathtaking batting display.
Who holds the World Record?
Romania hold the record for the highest T20I Powerplay score, smashing 116/0 against Serbia in Sofia in 2021. Ramesh Satheesan and Taranjeet Singh raced to unbeaten half-centuries as Romania completed a remarkable 116-run chase in just 5.4 overs.
Among the full-member nations, Australia hold the record for highest T20I powerplay score when they posted 113 against Scotland.
