IND vs AFG, Asian Games 2023: Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Indian men's cricket team on Saturday won the gold medal at the men's cricket T20I cricket at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China.
Afghanistan were batting on 112/5 in 18.2 overs when rain stopped the game. The officials had to call off the match after waiting for over an hour as it continued raining at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field.

India were declared on the basis of a higher seeding (ranking). Afghanistan, who defeated Pakistan in the semi-final, had to settle for a silver.
Notably, the Indian cricket team participated in the Asian Games for the first time in history. The India women cricket team lead by Harmanpreet Kaur also won a gold medal at the event.
It was India's 27th gold medal at the event and 102nd overall. Moments later, India won a gold in men's kabaddi. Earlier in the day, women's kabaddi team won a gold to deliver India in their milestone 100th medal at the Asian Games 2023.
Afghanistan were reduced to 12/3 in 3.2 overs before Shahidullah Kamal (49* off 43) staged his team's comeback. Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Shahbaz Ahmed and Ravi Bishnoi picked a wicket each.
India had kicked off their campaign with a 23-run quarter-final against Nepal. The match witnessed Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a scintillating hundred. They defeated Bangladesh by nine wickets in the semi-final.
