IND vs AFG: Axar Patel on Sunday became only the 11th Indian bowler to complete 200 T20 wickets. He achieved the feat during the second T20I between India and Afghanistan at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Axar Patel who starred in the first match with figures of 2/23 in the first T20I, picked the important wickets of captain Ibrahim Zadran (8) and Gulbadin Naib (57 off 35), Afghanistan's top-scorer in the match.

On a flat batting surface, the left-arm spinner gave away just 17 runs in four overs to pick two wickets. He completed his 200th wicket as soon as he picked the wicket of Gulbadin in the 12th over.
Only nine bowlers from India have achieved the feat earlier. Axar Patel, who plays for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL, has 200 T20 wickets in 234 matches. Yuzvendra Chahal is leading the list among Indians. The leg-spinner has picked 336 wickets in 290 T20 matches.

Axar Patel's effort helped India restrict Afghanistan to 172 in 20 overs. Axar Patel is eyeing a berth in the India squad for T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, the Gujarat cricketer was named in the India squad for World Cup 2023, but an injury ruled him out before the start of the tournament. Ravichandran Ashwin replaced him in the marquee ICC event.
