IND vs AFG: Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai led Afghanistan's fightback after the hosts were reduced to 43/5 within the first seven overs. The Afghan batters stitched together the second-highest partnership for Afghanistan for the sixth wicket in the T20 Internationals after the 86 between Nabi and Najibullah Zadran against Ireland in Dehradun in 2019.

It was a poor day for the Afghan batters as they lost half of their team within the first 10 overs. The only partnership that gave the Indian bowlers some resistance was between Sediqullah Atal and Ibrahim Zadran, scoring 32(22).

Afghanistan mounted a late fightback against India after Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai joined forces to rescue a faltering innings and give their side a competitive total in the first T20I. The visitors had found it difficult to build partnerships, but Nabi and Omarzai changed the momentum with a crucial stand that ultimately proved the difference between Afghanistan folding early and putting India under some pressure.

The pair added 83 runs from 56 balls, injecting much-needed momentum into the Afghan innings. Their partnership helped Afghanistan cross 127 after 17 overs, giving the side a platform for a strong finish.

India eventually broke the stand through Arshdeep Singh, who provided the crucial breakthrough with Omarzai dismissed for 33 off 27 balls in the 17th over. Despite losing wickets, Afghanistan continued to attack during the closing stages.

Rashid Khan endured a difficult outing with the bat, scoring just one run from 10 deliveries before Jasprit Bumrah accounted for him at 131/7. Afghanistan reached 152 after 19.5 overs before the final over produced a dramatic surge.

India conceded 21 runs in Shivam Dube's final over as Afghanistan finished on 156/8 after 20 overs. The late acceleration saw them score 52 runs in the final five overs, including 36 in the last four, turning what had looked like a modest total into a more competitive target.

For much of the innings, India's bowling attack had kept Afghanistan under control with disciplined and economical spells. However, the Nabi-Omarzai partnership and Afghanistan's late assault ensured India could not close out the innings as comfortably as they might have expected.

What appeared to be a straightforward finish for India at the halfway stage was transformed by Afghanistan's late hitting, with the visitors now hoping their improved momentum can carry into the chase.
