IND vs AFG: Rohit Sharma gets run out for duck on his T20I comeback, walks back fuming on Shubman Gill - Watch

IND vs AFG: Rohit Sharma did not have an ideal return to T20I cricket with the bat as he got run out for a duck during the first match against Afghanistan at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Thursday, September 11.

India openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill walked in the middle after Afghanistan set the hosts a 159-run target in the first T20I. Rohit Sharma defended the first ball from left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi.

He pushed the second ball towards the right of mid-off and left his crease for a quick single. But Shubman Gill was caught ball-watching as Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran made a brilliant diving stop.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma kept running and soon found himself standing with Shubman Gill at non-striker's end. An easy run out followed and Rohit Sharma walked back to the pavilion fuming on Shubman Gill.

There was a possible single and Shubman Gill should have responded to the call as the 36-year-old comfortably got to the danger end. Rohit was understandably explaining the same thing with his hand gesture to the youngster.

Shubman Gill tried to make up for the mix-up by scoring 23 runs off 12 balls. The innings from the local boy consisted of as many as five boundaries. However, he got out in the fourth over while attempting a third boundary from the Mujeeb Ur Rahman over.

Gill was induced in the playing eleven due to Yashasvi Jaiswal's sore right groin. In the pre-match press-conference head coach Rahul Dravid had stated that Yashasvi would be opening with Rohit Sharma in the three-match series.
