IND vs AFG: Shreyas Iyer stops Sanjay Manjrekar midway during Post-Match Presentation, says 'I wouldn't say that'

India captain Shreyas Iyer was quick to rephrase and correct a word used by commentator Sanjay Manjrekar at the post-match presentation on Thursday (September 17) after the Afghanistan encounter.

India completed a huge victory by 127 runs over the Afghans to seal the series 3-0, thus putting a dominant performance across the series.

Abhishek Sharma lit up the Arun Jaitley Stadium with a scintillating century. Batting first, India posted 221/7 after Abhishek smashed a stunning 108 off 34 balls, including nine fours and 11 sixes. He reached his century in just 30 deliveries. Sanju Samson added a valuable 50 off 35 balls to keep the momentum going.

Afghanistan struggled throughout the chase, with Ibrahim Zadran scoring 25 and Azmatullah Omarzai 17. India's bowlers maintained relentless pressure as Afghanistan were bowled out for 94, sealing another emphatic victory.

And after the match, commentator and post-match presenter Sanjay Manjrekar used the word 'bullying' while explaining India's win over Afghanistan.

The India captain though took none of that and stopped Manjrekar midway to give his thoughts about the opposition.

"I mean, I wouldn't say bullying, but I would definitely be respectful of the fact that they've come to India and then they were hosting the series. So, commendable performance by them as well. It wasn't an easy wicket, but the way Abhishek played today was flawless, and it was just pleasing to the eye," Shreyas said at the post-match presentation.

When asked about batting and putting a huge total, the India captain revealed he had a prior vision of batting in the match.

"Honestly speaking, I knew that I was going to bat today because we had a brief conversation with Ibrahim. He wanted to bowl in the first two games as well. So I had this vision, envisioned, I had envisioned that we were going to bat. But yeah, phenomenal start we got, and then obviously just to cream those runs in between to get 220 on the board was commendable," he added.

Both India and Afghanistan will now fly to Japan as they participate in the upcoming Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya.
